A friend of mine took Su-san and I to a soul food restaurant in Detroit.
I didn’t know what soul food was.

Soul food is typical African American food. It was definitely American food, but it had a different taste to it.
Anyway, it was good. I liked it.

I had anticipated beforehand that there would not be any Asians in that restaurant. As I just thought, there were no Asians there.
When we entered, all of the customers and the wait staff stared at us a bit, hahaha.
This was like a foreigner into a typical Sushi restaurant in Japan , right?

I’ve never seen such a powerful and kind lady. Who is that?
She is my boss.
She is Japanese and a very hard worker even though she’s busy taking care of her lovely baby.

She is younger than me, and she has less work experience than I have, however, I believe
She has many more skills with several different aspects than I have.
It is not an exaggeration to say that I can work comfortably in my office thanks to her.
She helps a lot every day especially my English problem.
She advises me a lot about work as well.

She is the one who recruited me and got me to move to sales department, when I was working in the engineering division as a part time engineering assistant. She found out about my background and lead me to the right way of utilizing my skill.

She said it herself that she is a more patient person than others.
Also, In analyzing herself, she said “I don’t give up on anything unless something is impossible.”

I really feel happy to see her in the US . I believe all of the employees in my office rely on her. I am proud of her as a Japanese.

The first sea shipment for my moving back to Japan was shipped the other day. ( I can ship my stuff by sea twice.)
Most wives who are here have already experienced moving overseas because they have already moved here from Japan. so, I am not the only one who had to do this troublesome work though. Anyway, today’s topic is the moving.

There is a limitation on the amount that we can ship that will be covered by Su-san’s company. If the amount is over the limitation, we have to pay the difference on our own.
Therefore, before moving , the moving company came over to my house and estimated whether my stuff was within the limit set by Su-san’s company or not.

Based on the quote from the moving company , she said
“Your stuff is just about at the “limitation” .You might be able to add a couple of cases though.. “
“Oh , okay. Im grad to hear that!”

Web
After the quote, there were lots of things I had to do.
I had to clean up everything in my house that I don’t need to bring back to Japan.
Some of the stuff was sold on a certain website, some of them was given to friends, and some was thrown away.
I’ve relieved that I was able to sell soon some “BIG” stuff, such as car , the king bed, the sofa ,,etc

All of the stuffs I wanted to bring to Japan were packed in each case and I noted which items were inside. Also, the price of the items had to be put on a list for insurance purposes.

On the actual 1st sea shipping day , the moving company staff packed everything very neatly.

船便1便目が出ました_b0127870_2473610.jpg

Yey!!
The moving company staff said to me
“Thank to your preparation beforehand, everything went very well and smoothly! That is one of the best preparation I ve ever seen.”
Yey!!
It was finished much earlier than we thought.

After the 1st items were shipped out, the moving company calculated the amount of stuff leftover for the second ship. Surprisingly, the amount of leftover was more the I had expected. That means that I can tale back more stuff that I expected. I’m thinking about what I more I should buy before the 2nd shipment is shipped… TV or some furniture?? ? haha

Every Friday evening ,a wine tasting event is held.
I expected them to let us taste all of different wines (that you see in the picture), but actually they gave us one glass of white wine and one of red wine. Haha

The purpose of the event was how to taste wine.
1, smell -> 2 let it touch the air 3-> etc I forgot next..

The Restaurants and bar

There are many bars, but the main bar was in the lobby. We could get alcohol any time. (of course, you can drink non-alcohol as much as you want)

One bar with game room was open 24-hours.
Su-san and I had a good time playing table tennis! haha

This is buffet restaurant.
やっぱり今年もカンクン旅行(その2)_b0127870_23232865.jpg

Previous hotels I had stayed in Cancun also had buffet restaurants, and we could eat food as often as I can. Also, guests were able to bring food at the beach side. We could get food whenever we wanted at this hotel’s buffet restaurant as well, but we didn’t allow to tale food from the restaurant to the beach.
We had to have seats and had food inside. That is Okay though. I was wondering if they want to keep clean at beach side…

If you want to have an a la carte dinner, you might as well make reservations at the restaurants.
If you cannot get a reservation , you can go to the buffet restaurant instead.

I couldn’t go to one Spanish restaurant because I didn’t have time. This is the only thing I regret.

The Cancun trip this time was the best I’ve ever had there.
I feel really happy to have gone there many times while I’m in Michigan. I was satisfied. I wish I could go there again…

I went to Cancun during the Thanksgiving holiday. It was my 3rd time to visit Cancun.
Because I love it there, I went there for the 3rd time, but the visit this time was the best for me.
This is because the hotel I stayed in was excellent!

Before I chose the hotel, I had researched many other hotels’s information such as which hotels had good rankings, etc.
The Royal Cancun Hotel that I stayed in this time had a good ranking (It was not so cheap though) . Also, the hotel was for adults only, and of course it was all-inclusive, so I chose to stay there.
やっぱり今年もカンクン旅行(その1)_b0127870_2120445.jpg

The price was $1100 for 4days(3-night-stay) in this high season. Cancun has lots of all-inclusive hotels, but I believe the better hotel you stay in, the more time you can get to relax.

The facility was fabulous! I think you can tell how great the hotel was.

The level of my room was supposed to be one lower than the room I actually stayed in. When I arrived and checked in there, it was at about 2:40pm. The check in time was at 3pm, so the hotel staff asked me to wait to check in till 3pm.

When I returned back to the front desk at 3pm, she told me to wait another 20 minutes for the room to be prepared. Now , the room is been doing the final check.
When I come back at 3:20pm, she asked me again to wait for another 40 minutes.
In this situation, no wonder I was mad at her.

I said “You should change my room to one that is already ready! I don’t want to waste anymore of my time.”
The hotel clerk said, “I don’t have any room available with same category as the one you are booking. I have one room that is already prepared, but the room is in a higher category than you are booking. You need to pay extra if we provide the room for you.”
“Why did you first tell me to wait for 20minutes? After that, you also told me I had to wait for 40 more minutes, even though this hotel’s check-in time is at 3pm. You should provide a room for me without extra charge. ” something like that..

She asked her manager about it, and the manager easily made the decision to give us the one with the higher rank.
Sorry . I took me so long to explained it..haha

やっぱり今年もカンクン旅行(その1)_b0127870_21292877.jpg

At the beach side, each space was separated by a booth.

Apparently, since many Japanese customers stayed there often, there were Japanese hotel concierges.

続く。。。
