On the second day of this trip, I went to a huge cavern called Carlsbad Caverns National Park. Actually, when I read my friends blog, I was dying to go there, so I could tell that this was the destination of this trip.
I took about 2 hours to drive there. There were no houses and shops until I got there. There was only one road on the mountain… we definitely needed a full tank of gasoline in the car before going there.
Anyway, I got there.
There were two entrances to the cavern. One of them was by using elevators and the other was on foot. I had a reservation for a sightseeing tour beforehand, so I went down a cavern using an elevator for the tour. But, it seemed like using the entrance on foot was more interesting than by elevators…

I was so surprised when I got there. It was huge, amazing and unique!
It’s not easy to describe how great they were, so I put some pictures on this blog.
And, there was a free popular program at Carlsbad Caverns. Toward sundown, we could see numerous bats flying from inside the caverns to outside. The number was over 3 hundred thousand? But I couldn’t tell for sure.
These bats made me feel a bit bad because I don’t like animals so much, but this was a great experience for me.
